Learn how quadcopters actually work by building one from scratch.

Full Stack Flight is an educational series on building a quadcopter ecosystem from scratch: flight controller, airframe, transmitter, communication protocol, and telemetry tools, all custom and built entirely in Python on parts you can buy for under $150. Made for aspiring engineers and curious makers who want more than a black box! Code, hardware, and explanations you can actually understand!

Meet Centauri

Centauri is the quadcopter system at the center of Full Stack Flight, a complete flight ecosystem built from scratch in Python for under $150, including:

  • The Centauri Quadcopter
  • The Pilot's Transmitter
  • Wireless Communication Protocol
  • Tooling for unpacking and analyzing flight telemetry

My goal in designing Centauri was to make every part of it understandable, so anyone curious enough to look under the hood can learn how a real quadcopter works, and build one themselves.

Fully Open Source! Every part of Centauri is available for free on GitHub! Anyone is welcome to explore, learn, build, and collaborate.

Educational Series

A comprehensive breakdown of how Centauri was designed, built, and tested from the ground up. It walks through the full system in a practical way, covering the architecture, hardware, software, transmitter, communication protocol, and telemetry analysis, with the goal of making the engineering behind it understandable enough for anyone to learn from and build on.
